Reservation 3 - email to Youth4Equality

appreciate your stir and have prayed for success and your safety. In my own way I have been talking to lots of people and create an awareness.

Just wanted to ask if you have met people in political parties besides Congress and UPA. There would be no harm in meeting people from CPI -M , CPI and people like Sharad Pawar. Maybe Raj Thakery in Mumbai. I have heard that the current speaker, Somnath Chatterjee, is a very learned person.

People like Ram Jethmalani. It would be great if you could talk to him and have him resign the Rajya Sabha seat.

My best wishes

reservation 2 - My letter to Times of India

Dear Sir,

There is a very peculiar sentence in the article"Wrong route right direction" ,:"...upper caste Hindus... have cornered around twice as many jobs as their share in population might justify"

The word, "cornered" gives an impression that the jobs have been taken away by force or through some unfair means. Such unjust use of words result in creation of misunderstanding among people. It was a similar propaganda in Nazi Germany that led to the extermination of millions of Jews.

The authors have tried to relate education and caste. They have found gross inequalities and on the basis of which they have supported quotas. I request them to try the same exercise with respect to gender and education. They should find the results more heavily skewed. Maybe this points out to a requirement of quotas for women. Next they could co relate the state of residency to education. Maybe they could then justify quotas on the basis of states.

Being a teacher of statistics, I have seen enough attempts by people to abuse the data and use it to justify their own ends. I sincerely request the authors to do a little soul searching and think for the benefit of the nation as a whole.

reservations

The so called honourable parliament is planning to impose a 27% quota for OBC. Does the parliament know that not a single seat is reserved for OBCs in the Lok Sabha it self??

Individually every MP (Member of parliament) would probably accept that all this quota politics is nonsense. Probably most of them as it is would not have children bright enough to get into these institutes. Also most of them would have enmassed enough money to send their kids to schools abroad. Well then, what the heck, even if the quotas are nonsense and may damage the country, why should an MP care?? It does get them the votes and ensures at least one more term and one more chance of such selfless service to the nation.

traffic police

Mumbai traffic police have a tendency to hide themselves at busy traffic junctions. Now as unsuspecting motorists jump signals, they pounce out of their dens and penalise the offenders.

The simple question here is: What is the purpose of the traffic police? Is it to pemalise offenders and maximise revenue or is it to prevent violation of rules?

In case they wnted to prevent violations, a cop who is very visible would be a great way. If I can see a cop, I would think twice before violating the laws.
